Fall 2011
The Chorale is working on several new Spirituals to add to selections from past programs for it's November performance, "Cornucopia," as well as to polishing up its repertoire of Holiday favorites to perform at Grand Boulevard's "Festival of Trees." In January, work will begin in earnest on a new program of music from the Great American Songbook, including classics by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, and Irving Berlin, to be presented in late February and early March, 2012. Please Contact Us if you'd like to join us for this program!
January-February, 2011
The Chorale returned from holiday break to prepare for its February performances of "Both Sides of the Pond.' The program included John Rutter's collection of folk songs from the British Isles, "A Sprig of Thyme," and Derric Johnson's arrangements, "A Capella Americana."
December, 2010
Members of the Chorale caroled at several venues during the holiday season, including Sandestin's Grand Boulevard, Silver Sands Factory Stores, and the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida.
November 2010
The Chorale presented a Veterans Day program of patriotic and poplular American songs to a capacity crowd in the Dolores Hope Chapel at Shalimar's Bob Hope Village, followed by a festive reception catered by Magnolia Grill in honor of the surviving spouses of enlisted Air Force personnel who attended the concert.
March-April, 2010
The Chorale enjoyed preparing the repertoire for it's Spring concert series (see below.) Rehearsing the music and becoming familiar with its subtleties deepened our understanding of the poetry, with each informing the experience of the other - something we enjoyed sharing with our audience.
January-February, 2010
The Chorale started the New Year by beginning preparations for it's April performances of Randall Thompson's lush and poignant "Frostiana" and George Shearing's jazzy "Songs and Sonnets of Shakespeare." Titled "Poetry in Song," the concert featured some of the most beautiful poems in the English language set perfectly to music by two of America's most famous contemporary composers.
November-December 2009
Members of the Chorale entertained shoppers at Sandestin's Grand Boulevard with holiday caroling on the four Friday evenings between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
November, 2009
The Chorale performed it's fall concert "Reflections of the Season" on three dates in three locations: November 14 in Panama City, November 15 in Santa Rosa Beach, and November 19 in Ft. Walton Beach.
September, 2009
In preparation for its Fall, 2009 concert series, the Chorale held an all-day workshop on September 19, 2009 with noted choral clinicians Dr. Brenda Smith and Ron Burrichter. Read more about it on the 2009 Workshop page.
